The Rain Tree

Insulant heat.
Bees by the shore.
Humming of insects.
The rain comes no more.
I went to the Rain Tree, about an hour and a half from Chiang Mai, Thailand. I rode my motorcycle through national forests, up mountains, down mountains, through villages. Dry season in Northern Thailand means water will be low, and burning season in means I will be riding through burning forest fires.

I found the Rain Tree on a map on my phone. It was almost 95 degrees F. and I was HOT. I went down a hill and at the bottom I found the Rain Tree. There was no one else around, just mud, insects, birds, sticks, and a very warm lake with the tree in the lake.

Close to the shore there were swarming bees. Luckily, they are not aggressive. I touched the water of the lake, and it was so warm, I decided not to walk into the lake. I sat a bit away from the shore and wrote. I didn't stay very long because of the heat. I reflect now, and wonder if this is actually the Rain Tree people rave about to visit. Honestly, I do not think it is, but that is the amazing journey. It was beautiful. It was everything I needed at that moment.
Thank You Rain Tree.
